About ICELT
The International Conference on Educational and Life Transitions (ICELT) is an annual international and interdisciplinary conference organised by the research centre Transformative Change: Educational and Life Transitions (TCELT), and the International Journal of Educational and Life Transitions (IJELT).
We invite you to be part of our inaugural conference in August 2025. Some examples of the strands include, but are not limited to:
Transitions of vulnerable children and families
- of disabled children and young people to adulthood
- of families who have experienced bereavement
- affected by parental imprisonment
- affected by war and conflict
Educational transitions
- to and through primary school
- to and through secondary school
- to and through FE/HE
Transitions in a health care context
- from paediatric to adult services
- from hospital to community
- to parenthood of mothers with preterm babies
- to palliative care
Urban transitions
- of older adults towards age-friendly cities and communities
Transitions in a digital context
International transitions
- of international families
- of refugee and asylum seekers
- cross-cultural transitions
- language related transitions
Life transitions
- of LGBTQ+ young adults to and through employment
This conference will provide you with the opportunity to meet transitions experts from various disciplines, nations and sectors. The conference will culminate in the development of International Transitions Framework(s) to guide international research, policy and practice to facilitate successful transitions. You will have an opportunity to inform this Framework and then embed it within your own context!
The synergy that will be generated from this international, interdisciplinary and diverse sector conference, especially informed by your work and experiences, will make it a worthwhile conference for all of us who believe in transforming lives locally and globally.
Conference Programme
You can view the Conference Programme for each day. We have endeavoured to provide a variety of transition areas everyday so that everyone will have something relevant and exciting to attend. The programme also reflects the international and interdisciplinary focus of ICELT2025.
A programme with Teams links will be sent to those who have registered. To join a session, please click the Teams link for that session in the programme. Please exit after the session ends and then click on the link for your next session.

Need Help Logging On?
For the best viewing experience, please keep the following in mind:
- Have a stable and good internet connection
- Microsoft Teams meetings are best when you join them from the Teams app or Teams on the web
- For accessing Microsoft Teams via a web browser, the best options are generally Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome (we recommend updating your browser to the latest version). While other browsers such as Firefox and Safari can be used, there may be some limitations or issues with certain Teams features
- Check the configurations of your equipment before the meeting:
- Check the volume level of your microphone and speakers or headset on your computer. It should be possible to test your microphone and speaker connection via the Settings option on your computer or device. If you do find your microphone and camera is not working, please check that your browser is not blocking access in your browser settings
- Check and test your webcam or camera settings for your computer - If joining via your workplace desktop, you may experience connection/sound issues due to your workplace firewall – we advise joining the conference outwith your workplace network or access via EDUROAM

Why we are going virtual
The core principles of TCELT and IJELT have always been diamond open access, inclusivity, accessibility and reaching as wide and diverse an audience as we can. Why? Because transitions are part and parcel of everyone’s life and cross geographical, educational, economical, cultural, and political (with visa requirements) boundaries.
We would like us to come together as #OneTransitionsCommunity without any restrictions- whether to discuss our lived experiences, research, practices and policies related to educational and life transitions. We know that, together, we can make a difference! To do this, we need diverse voices and experiences, and the virtual ICELT 2025 will give us a platform for doing that.
Therefore, ICELT 2025 will be a virtual conference, with no registration fee or any other costs to the delegates, that we can all join from the comfort of our everyday space/s, while reducing our carbon footprint!
This will not compromise the quality and standard of the conference. A virtual format will instead enhance everyone’s participation through the availability of online tools to increase the accessibility of the presentations, and opportunities to leave our views and opinions. We will also be able to take the international time zones of our delegates into consideration through conference hubs across continents.
